Based on research the odds are high that this is a old belt or a laser sensor. I have too many projects to investigate. This could be a real bargain for someone capable. I have removed the case (6 larger screws are in a bag) which allows the face of the unit to be removed. I have removed the cd tray face plate (just snaps in place). I have removed the front plate under the CD tray (4 smaller screws in a bag.) The unit powers on. The remote works. The tray ejects. The spindle lifts and spins a CD. After a few seconds the cd stops spinning. A CD will not load into storage. If you press the Load button with no CD in the tray, the tray will retract but motor does not spin. With a CD in the tray, when play is pressed the CD spins but I cannot see a laser light. If I manually move the gears of the carrier to move the laser to the outside position then load a CD, the laser moves back to start position below the inner part of the CD. The laser track appears to function and is still lubricated. It's a really good looking machine. Very little wear marks. I hope my description of the symptoms helps pinpoint the problem for one of you fixit folks! I ship economy to the CONUS for $45. If you want it faster or need shipping to Alaska or Hawaii, I can invoice you. I will leave it disassembled to save you the step, pack it carefully in its original box with the remote (batteries included!) No warranty and no returns.
