Ultra Exotic Modernism Shanling Model Scd T200 Stereo Tube Super Audio Cd Player

ORIGINAL EXOTIC ULTRA MODERNISM FORM SHANLING MODEL SCD T200 STEREO TUBE SUPER AUDIO CD PLAYER This SHANLING MODEL SCD T200 vacuum tube powered super stereo CD ROM DISC PLAYER is about as exotic as one will ever see for a CD PLAYER. This is the "ROLLS ROYCE" of CD players!  AND THIS ONE POWERS UP NICELY! THERE IS NO REMOTE CONTROL hand device sold with this item. Introduced around 2003, now two decades ago.   Behind the centrally mounted, top-loading disc transport one finds a row of four vacuum tubes protected by a multi-circular/ tubular array of delicately formed plexi-type Perspex to protect the tubes like a cage.  Behind four tubes are four huge transformers. The disc transport cover is made of Perspex too, and up lit by a cobalt blue light.  On the front face of the machine is a Sony-derived fluorescent blue display, and two blue LEDs to denote CD or SACD operation. Some parts of the machine are picked out in gold, which looks tasteful, and the control buttons on the top front feel decent too. Compared to its closest rival of that period – Sony’s SCD-XA9000ES – this SHANLING SCD T200 looks like a ‘skunkworks’ special project, which is to say interesting but ever so slightly ‘home made’. The Shanling is very much of its time then, and it’s only two decades later that it is beginning to get something of a distinctively ‘retro’ look. If one is not already in the NYC based MODERN MUSEUM OF ART, it will be soon. MEASURES 11 1/4" DEEP x 17 1/2" WIDE  x 5 1/2" TALL in size. All FOUR (4) VACUUM TUBES FIR E-UP just as they should.

Weight: 31 lbs The digital red-out LED screen shows all read-outs as they should - including; "UN DISC" "NO DISC" "OPEN" "READING" The disc drive servo motor responds to a person's finger impression of the "PLAY" button 'sometimes;' as the action is erratic.  The disc sometimes starts to spin or sputters and spins slightly, then a lot and then stops.  Clicking noises occur indicating that a RUBBER DRIVE BELT or RUBBER EDGED DRIVE WHEEL is dried out and slipping or a tension adjustment needs to be made. BUT THE SERVO MOTOR DOES WORK and responds to one's impression of the PLAY button - although erratically. It may be that the CD drive is not a belt or wheel, but a gear.  Looking on Pricetronic one can see readily available for merely $38.00 a BRAND NEW OPTICAL LASER LENS MECHANISM for SHANLING SCD-T200 / SCD-T200C - AND it shows that NYLON GEARS seem to be the drive mechanism.  Thus, the resulting slippage can be fixed simply by replacing this inexpensive part. Thus, either way, for proper classification on Pricetronic, we are offering this electrical items as "FOR PARTS - NOT WORKING." WITH ORIGINAL GREY COLORED POWER CORD. We have a AVI format video shot of the CD disc erratically spinning on this SHANLING on offer, but once we transferred AVI file to our PC computer file folder, it froze up and changed format and could not be transferred or uploaded to Pricetronic.  It played good on our 15 year old MACBOOK PRO - but our 15 year old MACBOOK PRO OS X will not interface with the 2023 Pricetronic nomenclature and environment.
