This unit was in good shape last time it was played. Overall with some scuffs, button wear, and blemishes from use over the years. The tray opens and closes fine and the unit has a very solid build! Plays CD's but can be picky with some discs. May just need some cleaning and lubrication of the laser sled to make it work perfectly again! That being said, It was my late father's. 16mo ago it was put into a climate-controlled storage unit. This unit is being sold AS-IS. However, the discs I played sounded FANTASTIC through the RCA outputs.
